Paper Playtime #36 - Anything Goes

Hi everyone!  I hope you guys all had a great weekend.  We had some amazing weather here ...yesterday it was about 75 and so sunny. We had a great day outside.  This week's challenge at Paper Playtime is Anything Goes!  It is also the first time for a new feature at Paper Playtime....the last Monday of each month will be Digi Mondays!  All the Queens were given some adorable digital images to work with this week and our Sponsors will be offering some great prizes.

I used this adorable little birdie form Doodle Pantry.  This image was pre-colored which makes it so easy to put together a cute card really quickly.

My card is 5-1/4" square and I shaped the corners with my corner rounder. This pretty polka dot background paper is from SEI.  I found several pretty SEI paper pads at Big Lot for $5 last week.  The label is from Lacy Labels.  I printed my image on white cardstock and then centered my bird on the center of my Cricut Mat.  Then using my Gypsy, I lined up my label on the center point of the mat to cut around the bird.    For the sentiment, I printed it out and then punched it out with 1" circle punch.  The orange circle is from George and Basic Shapes.  Head on over to Paper Playtime, to see all the beautiful projects that the Queens have for you. You'll definitely want to play along this week for a chance to win some of these great images.

Paper Playtime #35 & Scrappy Moms Love Notes Sneak Peek #3

Good morning!  This week our challenge at Paper Playtime is to make a project that is party related.  I decided to get a head start on some Valentine's Day treat bags for my twins class party.
I cut the base for my treat bag topper from Just Because cards.  I used the "relative true size" button on my Gypsy (the button with the a) to make my card base 4"h x 5.5"w.   I cut the little lady bug from Walk in my Garden at 1.75.  I changed her spots to hearts...I think it makes her so pretty!  This cut is great for projects with large quanities because it goes together really fast. To get her colors to work out you have to cut an extra layer in red, hiding all the spots on that cut.   I used the newly released Scrappy Moms Set - Love Notes for the sentiment.  This adorable new stamp set is availabe for pre-order now so be sure to head on over to get your set now.
You will love all the awesome party project the Paper Playtime Queens have for you this week!  Click here to head on over to check them out and to play along with us!  We can't wait to see what you come up with!

KinderStampO's 34 Birthday Balloons and Counting Blog Hop

Happy Birthday, Jess!
Welcome to KinderStampO's 34 Birthday Candles and Counting Blog Hop. Today you will see at least 40 birthday inspired projects from over 40 talented designers.  I'm so excited to be part of this hop. If you arrive from Christine's blog then you are in the right place. If you just stopped by for a visit, then click here to start from the beginning.

I have two projects to show you.
For this super simple birthday invitation, I cut the scallop rectangle from the Cricut Lite Sugar and Spice cartridge at 5.25 w.  I wanted the invite to fit in a standard A2 envelope.   I used Microsoft Publisher to print the info, trimmed the cardstock to fit and used my corner rounder to shape the corners.  I cut the two ladybugs from Walk in my Garden at 1". The pink organdy ribbon came from the JoAnn's bargain bin.

I saw the idea for this treat box over at Chic'n Stratch .  She makes a box like this using a Big Shot die.
I don't have a Big Shotso I created a similiar box on my Cricut.  I don't want this post to get too I will share a tutorial on how to make this little box along with my Gypsy file on the post below.

Now, it wouldn't be a hop without a little BLOG CANDY!  Please become a follower of my blog and leave a comment on this post for a chance to win a  Pink Xyron X.

Handle Treat Box Tutorial and Gypsy File

As promised, here is the tutorial for the handle treat box that I showed you on KinderStampO Birthday Blog Hop.  This will be my first attempt at sharing a Gypsy file so I hope this works for you guys.  To download the file click here.

You will need to cut two of these.  This is what one piece looks like when it is cut.
I used my MS Score board for the score lines.

Glue the other flaps down and then glue your two boxes back to back (I forgot to take a picture of this part).

To finish off my box, I cut 2 pieces of pattern cardstock at 1-3/4" x 3-1/4 and 2 pieces at 1-3/4" x 2-3/8".  I used my 1-7/8" scallop circle punch to cut a background for my ladybug.  She is cut from Walk in my Garden at at about 1.25 (I forgot to write this down, sorry).  The tag is cut from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More and the sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps- Simple Sentiments.

Note:  Before you fold and glue the box make sure the both handle holes line made need to flip the paper over before forming the box.

Flaunt If Fridays #7 - Mini Monsters Skull

To leave a comment on my Blog-Aversary giveaway for a chance to win a Cricut cartridge click HERE!

Happy Friday everyone!  This week at Flaunt It Friday's we are flaunting the skull cut from Mini Monsters.  I don't have that cartridge so I decided on a skull from Rock Princess.    I decided on a tag for my project this week.
I cut the tag from Lacy Labels....I feel like I am using that cartridge on almost everything I make lately!  It is a great many shapes that can be used for card bases, tag, mats and for little backrounds for your stamped sentiment.  I forgot to write down the measurements for the tag but it measures about 6"h x 3-3/4"w.  I cut the skull at 3"h from Rock Princess.  This cut has a flower attached to it but I trimmed that off and added a white Prima flower that I glittered with my Xyron.  The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps For the Boys stamp set.

We can't wait to see how you flaunt this cut.   Click here to head on over to Flaunt it Friday's to play along with this weeks challenge and to see all the other amazing projects the DT has for you.

Scrappy Moms Stamps - Terrific Tuesdays

Hi everyone!  I'm so excited!  Today is the first challenge for Scrappy Moms Stamps - Terrific Tuesdays!
Terrific Tuesday Challenges will be held the 2nd and 4th weeks of the month. The challenge will be posted on Tuesday and  it will end the following Monday. These will be Cricut cartridge challenges, if you don't have the specified cartridge you can substitute a similar cut. :)

Scrappy Moms will have a  prize drawing at the end of each month with all the entries from both challenges. That means if you play along with both challenges you will have two entries in the prize drawing!

This week's cartridge is Birthday Bash.  Most of you know how much I love this cartridge!  For my card I decided on this adorable little hedgehog.

For my card base I welded two shapes from Lacy labels together.  The pink floral paper is from my all time favorite paper pack...K and Company Carolyn Gavin.  The little hedgie is cut at 2-1/2"h and the eyes and nose were so tiny that I decided not to use them.  I colored his nose with a black marker and added the smallest google eyes I had.  The sentiment is from the Scrappy Moms set  Simple Sentiments.

Paper Playtime #33- Black, Silver and White

Good Morning!  I hope everyone had a nice weekend and was able to find all the $9.99 cartridges they wanted at Michael's!  I found several that I could not pass up at that price.

This week our challenge Paper Playtime is to make a project using black, silver and white ONLY.  I knew right away that I wanted to cut this tie from Wrap it Up.  I think it works perfectly with these colors.

I decided to cut the box feature to create this adorable little gift bag.  I cut the tag from Lacy Labels and used my The Charmed Life set from Scrappy Moms stamps for the sentiment.  This is a super simple project but it turned out really nice.  I attached the tag with some silver ribbon from Hobby Lobby.

Click here to head on over to Paper Playtime to play along with this week's fun challenge.  The rest of the Paper Playtime Queens have some beautiful projects to inspire you!

Note Pad Cover Instructions

If you are looking for the Flaunit It Friday's Hello Kitty Blog Hop click HERE

Hi everyone!   Several of you guys left comments asking for the details on how to make the note pad cover.  It is super simple and I hope you can understand my instructions below.  We got a new video camera and I am going to work on figuring out how to edit so I can hopefully try doing a couple of videos in the near future.  This is not my original idea.  I think I first saw this done with post it notes over at Kerry's Paper Crafts.

I started with these 5'h x 3"w note pads from Dollar Tree.

Cut a piece of 5-1/8" x 7-3/8" w.  Score the cardstock along the 7-3/8" side at 3-1/8, 3-1/2, & 3-7/8.
I marked the score lines in red so you can see them better.

With the 3-1/8" portion facing up, fold the cover on the center score line and make two cuts to the next score line about 1/2" apart.  This creates the pencil holder.

Now fold the cover over on the far left score line and you will add double sided tape or your ATG adhesive on the inside, skipping over the area that you cut so that it will pop up for your pencil.

The last step is to adhere your note pad down to the inside and decorate the front.  You can do this same thing with a post it note pad.  The only dimension change would be the height of the cardstock
would be 3-1/8.  All the other measurements remain the same.  You can find these mini pencils at the dollar store and I have found mini gel pens at Party City in the goodie bag bins for .25 each.

I gave the post it note size as Teacher's Gifts last year and they loved them.  Everyone can alway use an extra note pad.  Let me know if something is not clear or if you have any other questions.  Also,  I have been asked a couple of times how I got my comments to be numbered.  I don't have any blog designer did it for me but I do know there are a couple of tutuorials on the web that tell you how.  I used Laura Jane Designs for my blog makeover.  She has great prices and is so sweet.  You can find a link to her site by scrolling down to the bottom.

For my project I made a wall plaque/sign for my daughters' room.

Hello Kitty and her airplane are cut at 4".   The shaped plaque is from Lacy Labels and I cut it at 8.5"h  The "Soar" message is from Straight From the Nest at 2"h.

For my second project, we got to choose any cut from the Hello Kitty Greetings  and I chose the cupcake image from page 41.

I found some cute pastel colored notepads at the dollar store 3 for $1 so I made a cover/pencil holder. (If anyone is interested in the details for this just let me know and I will post them in a separately)  .  The background paper is by Heidi Grace.  I cut a white scallop strip form Just Because Cards and the stamp is from Papertrey Ink.
