Lori Whitlock Design Team Day

Hi everyone!  I hope you guys all had a great weekend.  We finished up both football and volleyball this weekend so now we'll have time to enjoy our weekends for a little while.

I'm so excited to show you guys my first design team project for Lori Whitlock.  When I saw the fall leaves file I immediately thought of making some type of home decor project.  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday....food, family and football!  We always have dinner at my house so I wanted to make something to decorate our mantle.

I actually made two projects....the first is this wreath.

I purchase a foam wreath from Michaels and wrapped it in burlap.  I found it on a roll that was about 6" wide. I cut the fall leaves in various sizes, embossed them with my Cuttlebug and hot glued them to the wreath. The largest leaves are 6".  I kept all the leaves pointing the same direction and just kept overlapping them until my wreath was covered.  I only applied hot glue to the bottom portion of the leaves so I could bend them up for more dimension.

It looks so pretty in person....I don't think the pictures do it justice.

I also made this pretty banner using the nested frames set.

I cut the base layer twice at 5.5" out of the brown and at 5" out the designer paper.  The red layer is cut at 3.75"h and the oval is at 3.15"h.  The font is Arial Bold.

Here's my mantle all finished....I love it!

Carolyn will also have a project to show you today.  You are definitely going to want to check out her gingerbread house.....click here to check it out!
